Stroll through the beautiful Spruce-Fir ecosystem of Tennessee and North Carolina!

This is a great trip to escape the heat and enjoy great views of Tennessee and NC while hiking through the cool and breezy Spruce-Fir ecosystem. If weather does not want to cooperate, have no fear, the midway point is a stone shelter at Double Spring Gap with a great view into NC. This hike descends on the Appalachian Trail to a shelter used for overnight hikers. The hike has the opportunities for phenomenal views during quality weather days but keep in mind, we are hiking in a temperate rain forest so we prepare for dramatic changes that can occur. Our hike is an “out and back” trip and requires substantial climbing on our return.
